Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Kotoba Bloom processes information when you use its web, iOS, or Android Japanese-learning services.
Information we process
We process account information such as your name, email address, account identifier, subscription status, and authentication records. We also process learning information that you choose to create, including goals, plans, progress, completed missions, vocabulary activity, assessments, AI tutor messages, corrections, feedback, referral activity, and notification preferences.
We process limited app-usage information such as platform, language, selected learning intent, feature interactions, sponsor impressions, dismissals, and an app-install identifier. This supports service operation, progress personalization, abuse prevention, product improvement, and frequency limits.
Voice and AI
Microphone access begins only after you start speaking practice or a live voice session. Audio is transmitted securely for speech recognition or conversational feedback. Raw practice recordings are processed transiently and are not stored in the Kotoba Bloom learning database. Recognized text, a sentence-match score, and resulting learning feedback may be stored in the signed-in learner's history.
AI tutor text and voice requests may be processed by OpenAI as a service provider. Do not enter passwords, payment-card numbers, government identifiers, health information, or other highly sensitive information into AI chat. AI output can be inaccurate and should be reviewed before use in important situations.
Payments and advertising
Payment-card details are processed by Stripe, Apple, or Google according to the platform used. Kotoba Bloom receives transaction and entitlement information but does not store raw payment-card numbers.
Free Sakura may display limited sponsor messages after completed learning activities. Mobile builds use Google Mobile Ads and Google's User Messaging Platform. Kotoba Bloom requests contextual or limited ads, honors available regional privacy choices, and does not send learning answers or AI conversation content to advertisers for targeting. Kotoba Plus and Sensei Pro are ad-free.
Service providers and international processing
Information may be processed by hosting and infrastructure providers, OpenAI for AI features, Stripe for web payments, Apple for iOS distribution and billing, and Google for Android distribution, billing, consent, and advertising. These providers may process information in countries other than yours under their contractual and legal safeguards.
Retention and security
Account and learning information is retained while your account is active or as needed to provide the service. When you delete your account, associated account, session, learning, feedback, referral, notification, and advertising-event records are removed from the active Kotoba Bloom database. Providers may retain transaction, security, or legally required records under their own policies. We use HTTPS in production, password hashing, access controls, rate limits, and platform payment systems, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.
Your choices
Signed-in users can export their account and learning data or permanently delete their account from the Account panel. You can deny microphone or notification permission in device settings and can reopen advertising privacy choices from the Plans screen where available. You may also request access, correction, deletion, or other rights available under applicable law by contacting support.
Children
Kotoba Bloom is a general-audience learning service and is not directed to children under 13. If local law requires parental consent for a younger user, a parent or guardian must provide it. Contact us if you believe a child provided personal information without required consent.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the service or legal requirements change. The effective date above will be updated for material revisions.
