Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of Kotoba Bloom's web, iOS, and Android Japanese-learning services. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy.

Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 13 years old and meet the minimum digital-consent age in your country. A parent or guardian must approve use where required by law. You are responsible for accurate account information, safeguarding your credentials, and activity under your account.

Learning and AI

Kotoba Bloom provides educational practice, AI tutoring, conversation, study planning, progress tracking, speech-match feedback, cultural guidance, and career-language exercises. AI and speech recognition can make mistakes. The service does not guarantee exam results, employment, immigration, business outcomes, native-level proficiency, or perfectly accurate translation.

Speech-match feedback compares recognized Japanese with a displayed practice sentence. It is not a clinical, biometric, identity, or certified language assessment. Review important language with a qualified person before using it for legal, medical, immigration, employment, or other high-impact decisions.

Acceptable use

Do not misuse the service, attempt unauthorized access, interfere with operation, automate excessive requests, upload unlawful or harmful material, violate intellectual-property or privacy rights, or use the service to deceive or harm others. We may limit or suspend access needed to protect users, the service, or legal compliance.

Subscriptions, renewal, and refunds

Free Sakura offers limited features and may include light sponsorship. Kotoba Plus and Sensei Pro are paid, ad-free subscriptions. Features, billing period, local price, taxes, trial or introductory offer, and renewal terms are shown before purchase.

Subscriptions normally renew automatically unless canceled before the renewal date. iOS purchases are managed through Apple, Android purchases through Google Play, and web purchases through Stripe. Cancellation and refund requests must be made through the platform used for purchase and are subject to that platform's rules and applicable consumer law. Deleting an account does not automatically cancel a store subscription; cancel it with Apple, Google Play, or the web billing portal first.

Content and intellectual property

Kotoba Bloom and its original lessons, design, branding, software, and learning materials are protected by applicable law. You keep rights in content you submit and grant Kotoba Bloom a limited license to process it only to operate, personalize, secure, and improve the service. Cultural and anime/game-style exercises use original examples and do not grant rights to third-party works or brands.

Availability and changes

We may improve, replace, limit, or discontinue features and may update these Terms. We will use reasonable care to preserve paid access during an active billing period, subject to maintenance, emergencies, platform changes, and circumstances outside our control.

Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided on an "as available" basis to the extent permitted by law. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Kotoba Bloom is not responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from reliance on AI output, interrupted availability, or unauthorized account use.

Governing law and contact

These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan, without limiting mandatory consumer protections in your country. Disputes will be handled by a court with jurisdiction under applicable law after the parties first attempt good-faith resolution.
